I had been waiting for this experience ever since a patient told me it was THE go to place in Portland. The lobster stew was fantastic. Clams were surpetb. The lobster was lobster, who can complain. Asparagus was top nothch. Palenta lacking a little spice. The server was un-inspired and frankly disaapointing. Settimg was 5 star.

I had first been here when I was 14--almost 30 years ago. Last time my husband and I were in town, locals talked us out of going. Again on this trip, a couple of people discouraged us from going, basically naysaying it as touristy and saying there are better places. We decided to go anyway, and really enjoyed it. My only regret was that we went late in the evening (about 15 minutes before the kitchen was closing). We rushed the experience because of that, but didn't feel rushed by the staff. The clam chowder and lobster stew were superb. Lazy lobster and seafood arrabbiata both good, as well. Lovely setting. Glad we went, despite being told otherwise!
